The Kingsport VITA program offers free tax preparation to individuals who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:
People who generally earn up to $64,000
Persons with disabilities and
Limited English-speaking taxpayers
Additionally, the program offers free tax help for those 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues.
Steps to Take for Assistance
1. Clients must call to schedule an appointment or schedule online.
2. Appointments are held at the Riverview Community Room located off Wheatley Street in Kingsport on Monday evenings and Thursday evenings.
3. All tax preparation paperwork will be completed on site.
4. Please bring all required documents including identification and social security cards. (see link below for document list)
5. Clients will return to the site to pick up their documents and ask any questions.

From Wilcox Dr: Enter from the Wheatley Street side of the complex. Parking is available directly beside the pickleball courts. The Riverview Community room is located at the end of the parking lot. Please look for the signs labeled “VITA”.
