KINGSPORT – The United Way of Greater Kingsport held its annual campaign celebration on Thursday at the Kingsport Farmers Market with more than 100 community leaders, volunteers and partner agencies in attendance.
The event was to thank everyone who participated in this year’s fundraising campaign and to announce the amount of money raised over the past four months.
To date, the United Way has raised $2.58 million during this year’s campaign, or 86% of its $3 million goal. Chad Austin, the chair of this year’s campaign, said Eastman Chemical Co. employees raised $1.7 million and that the number of donors who gave $10,000 or more rose to 32 this year.
